Multi Media Services (MMS) allows advertisers and content providers to send more interactive and media rich content to mobile phones.
MMS is similar to SMS, but allows you to directly send richer content to mobile phones like animations, slide shows, videos, music and long text (5000 Characters) or combinations thereof. Think of it as an SMS on steroids! There is no need to send a link to the user to download the content, it is pushed directly to the device as long as the WAP setting of the device is enabled. Some mobile operators provide status on device WAP settings if a database is supplied, however it is a manual process.
Most new phones today support MMS. It also provides a read receipt, much like email, thus advertisers can see if a message has been read and measuring the success of a campaign. *Currently in BETA statusĀ
